Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the School Health Nursing Services page. The Woodridge School Health Nursing team is dedicated to supporting the academic success of all children through health promotion, education and child advocacy. School Health Services nursing staff are an extension of Akron Children’s Hospital and have a partnership with the Woodridge Local Schools.

The district follows the recommendations from the CDC for communicable diseases. These procedures are based on the current CDC recommendations. All are subject to change as we receive new information from our local health authorities.

Protocol for Return to School for Common Respiratory Viruses including Covid-19

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or flu they may return to the classroom if

- symptoms are mild and improving and

- student is fever free for 24 hours prior to their return without taking fever-reducing medications

If your child has persistent or worsening symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider prior to returning to school.

In addition, our school nursing services team promotes the health of our students through providing screenings through the Ohio Department of Health Vision and Hearing Screening program. We also offer an on-site dental program during the school year and a School Based Health Center along with many other programs for our students.

Healthy habits such as proper hand hygiene, vaccines and well-child visits with your health care provider will help keep your child healthy. Your health care provider will provide a physical exam and review any necessary vaccinations your child needs. It is more important than ever to talk to your provider about your child’s growth, development and behavior. If your child does not have a health care provider, please contact your school clinic and we can help you by making a referral. We are here to help you!
