Welcome to Woodridge Middle School!
Woodridge Middle School (WMS) is a learning community serving approximately 450 students in grades 6–8. Situated on the edge of the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park, our campus offers a unique blend of small-town charm and natural beauty while remaining conveniently located near the metropolitan areas of Akron and Cleveland. Our diverse student population represents seven surrounding communities: Peninsula, Boston Township, Boston Heights, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson, and Akron.
WMS proudly participates in the Metro Athletic Conference (MAC), offering a variety of athletic opportunities for students in grades 7 and 8. Sports include football, boys' and girls' cross country, girls' volleyball, girls' soccer, boys' and girls' basketball, wrestling, and track and field. Fellow MAC member schools include Cloverleaf, Coventry, Cuyahoga Falls, Field, Norton, Ravenna, Kent Roosevelt, Akron-Springfield, Treetsboro, and Tallmadge. Sixth-grade students also have opportunities to participate in sports through the Woodridge Recreation Department. Our proud mascot is the Bulldog, and our school colors are maroon and white.
Beyond athletics, WMS offers a wide range of extracurricular activities that engage students and foster leadership, creativity, and collaboration. Students may participate in Chess Club, Robotics Club, United Club, Student Council, Power of the Pen, Jump Rope Club, RC Car Club, and the Reading and Writing Festival. Music remains an important part of the WMS experience, with our three grade-level bands joining the high school band each spring for a performance at the renowned Blossom Music Center. Our choirs and concert bands also perform throughout the year at school and community events.
Academic excellence, leadership, and character development are central to the mission of WMS. Each year, the Rotary Club recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional achievement in academics, community service, and personal character. Honorees for the 2025–2026 school year were Ella Filon, Eliza Matisz, Sadie Knight, and James Ackman.
The WMS faculty selects two outstanding eighth-grade students to receive the Citizenship Award, which was presented at the 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony. This honor recognizes students who consistently exemplify respect, kindness, compassion, integrity, diligence, and selflessness. These individuals serve as role models for their peers and positively impact the school community. The Class of 2030 Citizenship Award recipients were James Ackman and Madison Babb.
Sportsmanship and character are further celebrated through the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award. Named after Ohio native and two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, this prestigious recognition honors students who demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and leadership both on and off the field. The 2025–2026 recipients were Kendall Christensen and Aaron Seward.
Woodridge Middle School is a special place where every student is valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. Through engaging learning experiences, meaningful relationships, and diverse opportunities for involvement, we strive to develop independent, responsible, and lifelong learners who take ownership of their growth and success.
